Our Year 5 and 6 kids were involved in an amazing performance tonight. For the last term they have been walking over to Tawa College every Wednesday for a choir practice with all the other Primary Schools (6 of them) in Tawa, as well as the Intermediate School Choir.
All this hard work, along with a band, dancers, soloists, kapahaka, and a pipe band thrown in the mix as well meant that we were in for a real treat tonight at the Town Hall- Michael Fowler Center. Dress rehearsal this morning brought it all together. Here are some photos from this morning.

Your program sounds awesome! We have never heard the word kapahaka. What does it mean?

Kapahaka is a Maori word meaning Maori performing Arts. We have a kapahaka group at school that practise every Monday morning. They learn waiata (Maori Songs), use poi, and the boys also practise doing the Haka (Like our national Rugby team - the All Blacks)
